One by one
Two sides to conflict - at least two sides -
Once, the solution would have been compromise -
One by one, we, being human, err - this our ageless curse -
Patience serves us best - smooths our edges -
Right our own wrongs first -
So much turmoil we’d spare ourselves,
But no, we’ve mastered faulting someone else -
One by one, we, lacking vision, fall - that remains a given -
Concentrate much more on give than take -
Adjust our cost of living -
Victims, all, of human frailty - selfishly, we share an age
Teetering from awe to madness - our children rage,
Needing that no rights can grant us : our wiser, better-governed selves -
Author we a fairer passage, one by one -
One by one - one by one -
A brighter future awaits us all, but by our making -
Walk the walk -
History, the mirror of humankind -
More clear reflection seen but with time -
One by one, we share of common bane - fleeting, stoic time -
Surely, to be judged by the yet unborn -
Prints we leave behind -
Bound so to conflict for wealth and pride,
Can we, at this point, venture to compromise,
One by one? One by one -
One by one - one by one -
One by one.....
